2014 Race Schedule

I updated  most of the local Northeast races to the 2014 calendar. I put them on the same date as last year. There are some confirmed like US Surfski Champs, L2L, Blackburn Challenge, Essex, Sakonnet, Ride the Bull, Narrow River, Double Beaver, Run of the Charles, Snow Row.  If your race is a different date and you want if listed then you need to contact me. If you are not local, but have a Big Race in your region, then contact me I will add to our calendar. Our readership of the site is USA centered favoring the East Coast including the Northeast, Florida, North/South Carolina, Michigan and the West Coast including California and Washington State. SurfskiRacing.com gets 5000-6000 visits per month and growing. We even have a large viewship from Australia and many from all over the world. If you are a race director then you know the more exposure is better for participants, sponsors, etc.  So put all you info in one email to me and I will add it to the calendar.  Make it easy for me, so I don’t have to search a facebook page or website for all the info. If you want me to make a post of your race then email me.

New Items on the Site

Chris updated the Classified section to make it self automated so he can put his time into other features of the site. The Classified continues to be a service for every paddler. At any given time there can be upwards of 80 plus used skis on the site.  If you have sold a ski on this site then you know most folks come to our site looking to buy and sell their skis. Some skis have gone within hours once posted. This benefits manufacturers, paddlers, and distributors, since many new paddlers buy used first before upgrading. Experienced paddlers can often find a used ski in their area that may not be available new.  Most of us upgrade to a different ski at some point so the classified enables every paddler to move on their used ski for a new one.

Chris continues to update his race data base for easier listings of the races results.

I am pleased to have paid advertisers on the site like Elite Ocean Sports, North Coast Kayaks, and Think Kayaks. I am working on a sponsor or the SurfskiRacing.com Race Series which I am very excited about when it comes together.  So thanks to these guys for advertising on the site.

My 2014 Surfski Comparison Chart is updated and will be posted in the next few weeks with the addition of 10 skis and more coming.  It will be interesting reading for sure so you don’t want to miss that.   I also will be paddling the new Ion, the Uno Max Ultimate in the next few weeks and months as well as the V10L, and hopefully some of the new Vajda skis as well.

New Year Paddling Resolutions

So I am looking forward to the 2014 Surfski Season and hope all of you will join us on SurfskiRacing.com! Our Facebook site is Surfskiracing so you can find us there also. With so many options in skis this days, there is no excuse not to be paddling. I encourage all the paddlers that don’t race to give it a go this year. With so many races, pick one the suits your skill level and don’t worry about how you place, just go and have a good time. This is what Chris and I did at the Surfski Champs, we had a blast, just being a part of it.  If you are a new paddler, make that your goal for this new year to participate in at least two race in your local area or region! If you need help with a boat, I can certainly help you along with Chris Laughlin at North Coast Kayaks can or if you are in the Mid Atlantic region then Mark and Mark of Elite Ocean Sports can put you in the appropiate ski so you can see what all the fun is about.
