The SD6 is a way for surf skiers to get some competition and community while all the races and gatherings are prohibited by social distancing.
Instead of having actual race meets, everyone will race where they are: Find a convenient body of water, turn on a tracking device and race for six miles, starting and ending at the same point. Email the times to Newbury Kayak & Canoe and each Monday we’ll post the results from the prior week on our online hub. Each week will constitute one set of results.
If you can’t make it to the water, we’ll also accept and post times from kayak ergometers. And while mostly aimed at surfskis, we are happy to post times for kayaks and canoes. Many of the local racers will be participating so get onboard. Regardless of your times, just post your results so we all feel connected and can share our experiences.
