Come one, come all on Saturday, September 15th, 2018, to one of the most iconic races on the Northeast circuit, the venerable Lighthouse to Lighthouse Race (or “L2L,” as it’s known to the cool kids on the block), in Norwalk, CT. Proceeds benefit the Achilles International Kayak Team, and it’s once again sponsored by our premier sponsor, Stellar Kayaks, and Norwalk River Rowing. This year, WomenCAN International and PTX Partners assist in the sponsor category.

Comprising either a 7 or 14 mile out and back route, all manner of human-powered paddlecraft will trace a course through the idyllic Norwalk Islands in Long Island Sound past three (Count ‘em, three…), lighthouses, using the third, Greens Ledge Light, as the buoy turn for the 14 mile course. It is open to all manner of human-powered paddlecraft, from SUPs and prone boards to sea kayaks, surfskis, OC-1s, 2s, and 6s. Not only is the race course exceptionally scenic, but provides a variety of varying conditions for all levels of paddlers. Registration is via PaddleGuru, and check in is at 9:00 AM at Shady Beach, adjacent to Calf Pasture Beach, Norwalk, CT. There are ample facilities and parking available, and $2000 worth of prizes to be split amongst the men’s and women’s categories. Some rental surksis are available via Oceanpaddlesports East, on a first come, first serve, basis. Registration also includes one of the most kicking beach parties ever, with bbq on the beach, chowder, and raw bar.  This is NOT one to be missed!

Not sure if the technical term is “flotilla” or “armada”, but the East Coast has never before seen such a congregation of skis (Photo courtesy of Betsy Echols).
