We are just over 2 months away from The North Shore Cup Surfski race weekend on Lake Marion here in Santee/Summerton, SC.

On Saturday October 17th, we’ll have The North Shore Cup. The men’s race was won last year by Stellar Surfski’s Reid Hyle from Think USA’s Jesse Lishchuk, with Reid catching some small runs and pulling away during the open crossing of Lake Marion. The women’s race was tight last year, with Pam Boteler just edging out Sara Jordan in a very close sprint. We are hoping that this year’s race will be even more competitive! The 12 mile race course will again feature an open crossing of Lake Marion, offering up a variety of conditions for those vying for the Cup. We will be offering prize money for the top 3 men and top 3 women overall, and Stellar Kayaks is offering a $300 winner take all hotspot sprint at the 3 mile mark.
Additionally, hardware will be awarded for the top 3 in the following categories for men and women:
– HPK
– FSK
– Surfski Doubles
– OC-1
– OC-2
– SUP
There will also be a 6 mile race for those not wanting to race the full 12 miles, and hardware will be awarded there as well for the same categories as in the 12 mile.
But that’s not all!! In an effort to make this a full weekend of racing fun, we are moving across the lake on Sunday October 18th for The Santee Surf and Turf Triathlon! This will consist of a 3 mile trail run, 3 mile paddle, and 8 mile MTB. Multiple categories will be awarded and there is a team option for paddlers who may not want to run or MTB.

Professional timing and scoring for both events will be provided by Adventure Geek Productions.
In addition to all of this, we will offer demos of Think and Stellar Surfskis, as well as Jantex and G’Power Paddles, throughout the weekend, will an official demo day on Friday afternoon to coincide with a light shakedown pre-race paddle on Lake Marion on Friday afternoon.

There will be a low key cookout at The North Shore Condos on Friday night so that everyone can get together the night before the race and talk about how little they’ve been training.
