Blackburn Challenge, July 25, 2015. Video from Halibut Point State Park, with a 10-15 knot NNE wind creating some 4-6 foot seas.
This is an excellent video by Chris showing us the conditions of the race at this point shot at Halibut Point, mile 7 of the race. By this time all of us had paddle 3 miles of flat water then we had 7 miles of rough water like this before mile 10 at Straitsmouth for some respite. Conditions after Halibut Point got a little bigger but less chaotic. What is also apparent is that the more skilled rough water paddlers have a higher stroke rate and look more relaxed compared to the less skilled. It sounds obvious for those of us that have been paddling a while but nice to see the really skilled like Sean Brennan look as smooth in rough water as he does in the flats. Thanks Chris for taking the time to get set up at Halibut Point and all the editing that is involved for all of us to enjoy.
